Derek Teal, traditional signwriter since 1957 served as a 'bound apprentice, at a Leeds sign company, trained at Leeds College of Art and also worked for a large Bradford sign company for several years before turning self employed in 1968 and 'computerised' in 1984 just in time for,
Lisa, daughter of Derek to leave school and join in the making of 'Go faster' stripes, decals and graphics for 'boy racer' cars as well as lettering and logos for commercial signs and vehicles. Lisa also attended college for traditional signwriting.
Andrew, son of Derek left school and joined the crew, as we moved to larger premises, and served his apprenticeship, also going to college for traditional signwriting. He took to signage like a duck to water, hence the name 'Teal', and has since developed his own company.
Christine, wife of Derek applied her typing, accountancy, and computer skills to the business, keeping the tax,and VAT people (mafia) content.
Brian, another experienced ex-signwriter joined us, having worked, trained, and still commutes from Harrogate.
We then moved to our present location on Stanningley Road, in the quest for space, and the need to accommodate vehicles to apply livery and signage in a controlled environment.
Teal Signs are pleased to be sponsors of Bramley Carnival.
